Geneva Kiwanis makes donation to kids' program

The Kiwanis Club of Geneva raised $6,287.00 on behalf of the Delnor-Community Hospital OrthoKids Aquatic Exercise Program.

OrthoKids Aquatic Exercise Program is a six-week class designed for children with neurological and orthopedic conditions who could benefit from the properties of warm water to maximize movement abilities and independence.

The Kiwanis Club of Geneva has been steady supporter of this program which benefits hundreds of children each year. Families with children of special needs often struggle finically due to the extra cost of general care and medical necessities. To ease the burden of cost, in these particularly difficult economic times, the club managed to raise monetary donations through the sale of raffle tickets. A drawing was held on July 17 at which time first-, second- and third-place winners were announced.

Rachel Mickle, president of the Kiwanis Club of Geneva, and Rich Foster, treasurer, presented a check in the amount of $6,287 to Jennifer Simmons, community exercise coordinator, on Aug. 7 during the clubs regular bi-weekly luncheon held at the Delnor Health and Wellness Center in Geneva.
