Arlington Heights

• Burglars smashed the rear driver's-side window on a 1999 Nissan Altima and 2007 Kia Rondo between 9:45 and 11:30 a.m. Aug. 17 and stole a laptop computer, tote bag, two jump drives and 10 CDs out of the Nissan and a backpack with clothes, running shoes and MP3 player out of the Kia, in a parking lot at Countryside Church, 916 Hintz Road, police said. Total value was estimated at $1,980.

• Burglars cut the kitchen window screen, climbed through the open window and stole a coin collection, purse, and ATM-style piggy bank between 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Aug. 15 out of a home on the 500 block of South Reuter, police said. According to reports, a witness saw two men, 30-40 years old, in a beige sedan parked in the victim's driveway. A value estimate was not available.

• Vandals broke the windshield between 6 and 8:19 a.m. Aug. 16 on a 1991 Toyota Corolla parked on the 0-100 block of South Dryden Place, police said. Damage was estimated at $400.

• Thieves cut a cable lock and stole a men's blue 27-speed mountain bike between 8:30 p.m. Aug. 17 and 12:30 a.m. Aug. 18 in a store bike rack at 122 N. Vail Ave., police said. Value was estimated at $400.

Des Plaines

• Burglars stole 12 boxes of security camera equipment around 3:30 p.m. Aug. 14 out of a locked rental storage unit at 2020 Mannheim Road, police said. Someone used the security code to enter the building around 3:25 p.m., reports added. Value was estimated at $15,000.

• Vandals smashed the rear window between Aug. 12 and 16 on a 1999 Oldsmobile Bravada parked in a driveway on the 1900 block of Shepherd Drive, police said. Damage was estimated at $200.

• Vandals used red spray paint to write swear words, racial slurs, and swastikas Aug. 17 on playground equipment, picnic area, park benches and pavement in Einstein Park, 355 W. Walnut Ave., police said. Damage was estimated at $500.

• Burglars smashed the front driver's-side window and stole a GPS unit between midnight and 1:30 p.m. Aug. 15 out of a 1989 Toyota Camry parked in an apartment lot on the 1100 block of Holiday Lane, police said. Damage and value were estimated at $349.

Elk Grove Village

• Burglars smashed a window and stole a GPS unit and accessories between 7 and 10 p.m. Aug. 15 out of a 2008 Ford pickup truck parked on the 2900 block of Touhy Avenue, police said. Damage and value were estimated at $450. Burglars smashed the front passenger's-side window and stole a GPS unit between 8:30 and 9:05 p.m. Aug. 15 out of a 2000 Nissan Altima parked on the 2700 block of Touhy Avenue, police said. Damage and value were estimated at $700.

• Burglars smashed the front passenger's-side window and stole a radar detector between 8 p.m. Aug. 13 and 5:20 a.m. Aug. 14 out of a 2003 Acura TL parked on the 800 block of Cass Lane, police said. Damage and value were estimated at $700.

• Vandals put several scratches on the front driver's-side door and front fender between 10 a.m. and 2:10 p.m. Aug. 16 on a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer parked on the 500 block of Edgewood Lane, police said. Damage was estimated at $400.

• Burglars climbed through an open rear window and stole coins in glass jars and jewelry in a wooden box between 12:15 and 4 p.m. Aug. 13 out of a home on the 700 block of Tonne Road, police said. Value was estimated at $2,200.

• Burglars entered through a kitchen window, ransacked rooms, and stole jewelry between 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 13 out of a home on the 600 block of Arizona Pass, police said. Value was estimated at $30,000.

• Steven D. Minix, 24, 543 E. Seegers Road, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 8:45 a.m. Aug. 14 and charged with criminal damage to property at 1601 Oakton St., police said. His Rolling Meadows court date was set for Sept. 12.

Mount Prospect

• Vandals spray painted graffiti on a 2006 Dodge Sprinter van and wooden fence between 10 p.m. Aug. 16 and 11:25 a.m. Aug. 17 at a home on the 1200 block of South Robert Drive, police said. Damage was estimated at $300.

• Sharon M. Herling, 41, and Anthony B. Herling, 45, both of 50 E. Fremont Ave., Des Plaines, and Henry G. Nelson, 30, 2707 Elayne Court, Arlington Heights, were arrested around 1:50 a.m. Aug. 17 and charged with disorderly conduct after they refused to leave Ye Olde Town Inn, 18 W. Busse Ave., police said. They struggled with two male employees and a male patron as they were escorted out of the bar, reports added. Their Rolling Meadows court date was set for Sept. 2.

• Vandals broke a wooden flower pot planted with flowers between 10 p.m. Aug. 16 and 9 a.m. Aug. 17 and dented the front passenger's-side fender on a 2005 Jeep Laredo at a home on the 1200 block of Basswood Lane, police said. Damage was estimated at $1,060.

• Vandals smashed the front windshield on a 2005 Toyota Camry and 1996 Ford Taurus between midnight and 6 a.m. Aug. 17 parked at two homes on the 900 block of Quince Lane, police said. Total damage was estimated at $1,200.
