Ex-Pheasant Run employee charged with theft

Authorities issued an arrest warrant for an Aurora woman accused of pilfering about $200,000 during a nearly five-year period while working at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles.

Cynthia L. Hutchison, 53, was charged in a DuPage County grand jury indictment with one count of felony theft. If convicted, she faces a possible sentence of probation or up to seven years in prison.

Prosecutor William Wu alleged in the indictment that Hutchison stole the money in various transactions from Sept. 30, 2002, to March 7, 2007, while employed at the resort.

Officials at the resort alerted St. Charles police in March 2007, which is when an official investigation began. The grand jury indicted Hutchison Thursday, according to court records released Friday.

St. Charles police spokesman Paul McCurtain said he couldn't comment on the arrest warrant. He said his department was contacted in March 2007 by Pheasant Run Resort regarding a theft of more than $200,000.

"The investigation is still ongoing, and it should reach a conclusion in the next couple of days," he said.

Calls made to Pheasant Run Resort were not immediately returned Saturday.

Hutchison, of 755 N. Edgelawn Drive, had not been booked into the DuPage County jail as of late Saturday. A phone number listed for her name and address has been disconnected.
