West Nile virus found in Lake in the Hills

A Lake in the Hills mosquito trap this week tested positive for the West Nile virus, which marks the first case in McHenry County this year, officials said.

The Illinois Department of Public Health, which tested the trap, has not identified any human cases.

There are various ways to protect yourself from the virus, like eliminating standing water and remaining indoors at dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are most active.
