Artists win awards at Batavia festival
Awards for the Outdoor Fine Art Show and the City Hall Exhibit were recently announced for the Art In Your Eye Festival in Batavia.
The winners of the Outdoor Fine Art Show Awards were:
• Best of Show: Gena Ollendieck of Cresco, Iowa for mixed media.
• First place: Andria Burchett of Geneva for drawing.
• First place: Chris Coffey of Akron, Ohio for photography
• First place: Edward Cook of Batavia for acrylic miniatures.
• First place: Tammy Deck of Westmont for mixed media.
• First place: Debra Dembowski of Pewaukee, Wis. for jewelry.
• First place: Joshua Guge of Gilberts for wood sculpture.
• First place: Klaus Kuntscher of Shawnee, Kan. for watercolor.
• First place: Daniel Lager of St. Paul, Minn. for painting.
• First place: Samuel Yao of Ann Arbor, Mich. for fiber.
• Mayor's Award: Brian Sullivan, Champaign for mixed media.
• Miniature competition: Paula and Charlie Shoulders of Brighton, Mich. for glass.
The winners of the City Hall Exhibit Awards were:
• Best of Show: Rosemary Smiley of Montgomery for "When You Wish."
• First place: Rosalie Waranius Vass of Batavia for "Dancing in a Dream."
• Second place: Fatima Figueirora of Geneva for "Sunday."
The honorable mention awards went to Bob Krajecki of Elburn for "Reaching for the Light;" Ed Garon of Batavia for "Cautioned;" and Joe Kraft of Batavia for "Teapot & Cup."
