Island Lake street brawl sends at least two to hospital

Two men were hospitalized early Saturday after a street brawl in Island Lake, police said.

The fight erupted about 1 a.m. on the 3800 block of Woodlawn. About eight or 10 people were involved in the fight, which escalated when neighbors tried to break it up, police said.

One man apparently beat another with a pipe, and the windshield of a parked car was broken in the donnybrook.

Both victims were taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital near Barrington by the Wauconda fire department.

One of the men required surgery to reattach a severed finger, police said.

Alcohol apparently was involved in the incident, police said.

No charges had been filed as of Saturday afternoon as police continued investigating. No other details were available.
