For Stan Bowman, it's 'dream come true'
What was it like growing up as the son of legendary hockey coach Scotty Bowman?
Just about the coolest thing in the world, according to Blackhawks' assistant general manager Stan Bowman.
"I have very fond memories of when I was my son's age
of just sitting around and listening to my dad talk to other coaches, talk about hockey," Stan Bowman said. "My favorite thing to was just kind of be a fly on the wall and listen to him talk strategy."
Now that his dad has come over from the dark side - the Detroit Red Wings - to join the Hawks as a senior adviser and be near his son and family, well, things couldn't get much better for the Bowman clan.
"It's a dream come true for me," Stan Bowman said.
Ditto for his dad.
"The Hawks think so much of Stan, and so do I," Scotty Bowman said. "This is an exciting time for our family,"
