Van rolls over on Route 53 near Higgins
Illinois State police officials said one person was injured in a rollover accident on Illinois Route 53 near Schaumburg Road early Tuesday morning.
Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Jeff Grendzinski said the van was heading in the southbound lane when a steering mechanism on the vehicle broke. The van veered off the side of the road out of control and into a ditch at about 8:15 a.m., he said.
The van rolled over when it hit the side of a ditch. The vehicle was resting on its roof when emergency officials arrived on the scene.
The unnamed driver of the van was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village with non-life threatening injuries, he said.
The accident was cleaned up at about 10:30 a.m.
