Buffalo Grove
• The cloth vehicle cover, worth about $100, was stolen off a 2002 Chevrolet Corvette in an apartment lot on the 1200 block of Johnson Drive overnight Aug. 14-15.
Des Plaines
• A bicyclist in his early 20s shot what appeared to be a BB gun at a car with three men inside traveling north on the 1900 block of Mannheim Road, around 1:10 a.m. Aug. 15. No one was injured. Police said the shooter flashed a gang sign while the victims were in a gas station lot on the 1900 block of Mannheim Road, but they ignored him. Then he pointed the air gun at them but did not shoot. As they drove out of the gas station, however, the shooter rode up beside their 2000 Ford Explorer and opened fire. Damage was estimated at $150.
• A customer at a grocery store on the 1500 block of Lee Street was robbed of her wallet between 11:35 and 11:50 a.m. Aug. 14. The loss was estimated at $820.
• A building under construction at 595 River Road was burglarized between Aug. 8-14 and copper pipes were stolen from all six floors and 63 units. The pipes had already been installed. A loss estimate was not available.
• A 1999 Ford Expedition in an apartment lot on the 2500 block of Ballard Road was broken into and a kicker box and amplifier stolen, between 12:15 and 5:30 a.m. Aug. 14. Damage and theft were estimated at $725.
Mount Prospect
• A 2007 Porsche Carrera S on the 1800 block of Magnolia Lane was broken into between 2 and 7:10 a.m. Aug. 14 and a set of golf clubs and a radar detector stolen. Damage and the theft were valued at about $2,980.
• Two spotlights illuminating the business sign at Fisher Clinical Services, 699 Wheeling Road, were broken between 6 p.m. Aug. 13 and 5:30 a.m. Aug. 14. Damage was estimated at $800. Police say the same lights were broken a month earlier.
• An apartment on the 1300 block of West Cottonwood Lane was broken into between 8:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Aug. 13 and a laptop computer was stolen. Damage and the theft were estimated at $900.
• Vandals set a Dumpster on fire, melting the plastic lid, at Holmes Junior High School, 1900 W. Lonnquist Blvd., around 10 p.m. Aug. 14. Damage was estimated at $100.
Wheeling
• The south exterior brick wall at Hawthorne School, 200 Glendale, was vandalized with spray paint between 3:30 p.m. Aug. 13 and 8:55 a.m. Aug. 14. Damage was estimated at $25.
• A 2000 Buick Century in an apartment lot on the 800 block of McHenry Road was vandalized around 10 a.m. Aug. 13. Two women were in the car but did not see the offender. Damage was estimated at $100.
• Someone stole two GPS units out of an unlocked 2002 Chevrolet Trail Blazer and three pocket knives out of an unlocked Honda Odyssey parked in an open garage on the 800 block of Tanglewood Drive overnight Aug. 9-10. The losses were estimated at $290.
