Aurora cops searching for shooter
A 28-year-old man was severely injured early Monday morning during a shooting in Aurora.
The Aurora resident was "airlifted to a suburban hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the head," according to police.
Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli declined to identify the victim or which hospital he was taken to. Fire department officials also were unavailable on Monday.
The victim was shot sometime between 1 and 1:45 a.m. and later found in an alley on the 400 block of Spruce Street. It's not known if he was shot there or if his body was "dumped" there.
There are no suspects, and police said they are getting only "sketchy details" from witnesses.
Ferrelli said a large amount of cash was found near the man's body. The victim also allegedly was in posession of an unspecified amount of narcotics, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at (630) 801-6655 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to any arrests.
