Boy's death under investigation

Authorities in the southern Chicago suburb of Crete are investigating allegations that abuse by both parents led to the death of a 12-year-old boy.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office says Kevin Johnson died Sunday morning at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

Kendall Marlowe, a spokesman for the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, says eight other children from the home were taken into protective custody after Kevin's death. Marlowe says the agency has had previous contact with the family.

Autopsy results were expected some time Monday.
