Money stolen, women sexually assaulted in home invasion

Police are looking for five men who forced their way into a Schaumburg apartment Saturday night, stole money and sexually assaulted two women.

Police emphasized the apartment were the incident occurred, on the 2300 block of Pennview Lane, was specifically targeted by the offenders, who apparently knew they'd find money there.

"The offenders went to this location for a very specific reason," Schaumburg police Sgt. John Nebl said.

According to reports, the men forced their way into the apartment at about 9 p.m. and tied up two men and two women there.

One of the men escaped and fled to the Hoffman Estates police station.

Schaumburg officers were notified and went to the apartment, where they found the other male victim walking in the parking lot and the two women inside the apartment.

The offenders had fled before police arrived, Nebl said, and no arrests had been made as of late Tuesday.

The women were transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates after reporting that they'd been sexually assaulted.

After the women were treated and released, officers offered to relocate the victims for their safety, but they refused, police said.
