Motorcyclist dies in Addison hit-and-run

Addison police did not release any more details Saturday about an incident where a motorcyclist was killed after an altercation with a driver of an SUV Thursday night in Addison. Police are continuing to investigate, calling it a hit-and-run case.

Addison Fire Captain Jim Burke said Friday that an altercation, possibly stemming from a traffic incident, escalated between the motorcyclist and the driver of the SUV. Burke said the victim died at the scene. The victim has not been identified.

Neighbors say the incident occurred about 7:30 p.m. on the 800 block of South Iowa Street, a residential area near Addison Road and North Avenue. Neighbors who heard the loud noise say they ran out and saw an SUV fleeing north toward Armitage Avenue. It left skid marks at the scene, they added.
