Des Plaines

• A stereo MP3 player was stolen out of a garage on the 2100 block of Nimitz between 7 a.m. and 12:08 p.m. July 22. There was no sign of forced entry but the theft was estimated at $110.

• A red 1998 Cadillac DeVille was stolen from a condo garage on the 1300 block of East Washington Street between 7:30 p.m. July 21 and 6:30 a.m. July 22. The value of the car was not available.

• An MP3 player belonging to the park district was stolen around 11 p.m. July 19 during "Late Night at the Park" at Mountain View, 510 Algonquin Road. The player was valued at $250.

• Two vehicles in one driveway on the 2700 block of Greco Avenue were burglarized between 7:20 p.m. July 20 and 5:10 a.m. July 21. In-dash radio/CD players were stolen from an unlocked 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Sierra and an unlocked 1999 Honda Accord. The loss was valued at $320.

• A 1995 GMC Yukon was vandalized in a lot on the 1900 block of South Wolf Road between 3:30 and 3:40 p.m. July 21. Damage was estimated at $300.

• Someone stole tools out of an unlocked cabinet in a garage at the Cook County Highway Department, 2101 Ballard Road, between May 17 and July 11. The tools' value was not available.

Mount Prospect

• Jeanie S. Read, 55, 2125 S. Tonne, Arlington Heights, was arrested around 7:50 p.m. July 16 at 83 Bodyworks, 1840 S. Elmhurst Road and charged with prostitution, after Mount Prospect and Arlington Heights officers conducted a sting operation. Her court date is Aug. 1.

• The abandoned Phillips 66 gas station, 2 E. Rand Road, was broken into and burglarized July 20; burglars smashed a plate glass window, broke a door knob and lock, and stole 211 packs of cigarettes, 64 packs of cigars and four cans of chewing tobacco. Total damage and the theft were estimated at $1,298.

• An unlocked men's silver bicycle was stolen from outside the Mount Prospect Public Library, 10 S. Emerson St., between 2 and 3:45 p.m. July 21. The theft was estimated at $300.

• Someone ignited fireworks in a wooden mailbox on the 1400 block of West Catalpa Lane around 2:30 a.m. July 23. Damage was estimated at $200.

• A 2005 Chevrolet Aveo on the 1100 block of Wheeling Road was vandalized between 11 p.m. July 21 and 7 p.m. July 22. Damage was estimated at $200.

• Someone vandalized several businesses with spray paint between July 18 and 22. Hit were two brick garages at a complex on the 1300 block of south Elmhurst Road; two Dumpster fences and brick walls at an apartment complex on the 600 block of Pickwick Court; the north wall at the Mount Prospect Park District Rec Plex, 420 W. Dempster St.; the west wall at Research Products International Corp., 410 E. Business Center Drive; walkways, trees, benches and garbage cans in Hill Street Park, 525 Hill St.; and an apartment building door and Dumpster on the 2100 block of West Algonquin Road. Total damage was estimated at $1,270.

Prospect Heights

• Vandals removed access point covers and cut power and telephone wires to a light pole and Cook County's Operation Shield camera system at Burning Bush Lane and Apple Drive on an unknown date but reported July 17. Police said the power wire is the main feed to area light poles. Damage estimates were not available.

• Someone smashed a mailbox and broke a bottle of whiskey in a driveway on the 200 block of Thierry Lane between 9 p.m. July 21 and 9 a.m. July 22. Damage was estimated at $30.

• Someone wrote gang graffiti on a bathroom door in a men's locker room at the Gary Morava Center, 110 W. Camp McDonald Road, July 21 or 22. A damage estimate was not available.
