McCain crossed the line with attack ads

There was a time, many years ago, when I would have gladly voted for John McCain.

However, every single American should be outraged at McCain's recent comments and attack ads insinuating that Barack Obama doesn't care about our courageous men and women in uniform. McCain went even further and stated on several occasions that Barack Obama would rather win an election than a war.

How dare he make claims of running a respectful campaign and then play political football with our troops and the concept of patriotism.

If he wants to challenge or debate strategy - fine. That's clearly not what's happening here.

Listen, I don't care whether you like Obama's positions or politics. McCain has seriously crossed the line as an American during this incredibly difficult time in our nation. He should know better and do better - and had said that he would.

All of this was done while Obama was overseas; thankfully, Obama had the good sense not to challenge a fellow American directly while abroad. Regardless of who wins in November - and we can fairly count on it being one of these two men - this nation has some serious healing to do.

Using our soldiers for campaign fodder should be off limits, which is why Obama decided not to visit the military hospital while traveling on campaign funds in Germany. For John McCain to stoop this low is beyond my comprehension and reeks of desperation.

I'm telling him so. Will you?
