Reception for Carlson

A reception for outgoing Kane County Board member Jan Carlson is planned for Tuesday following the board's 9:45 a.m. meeting at the county government center, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Geneva. Carlson, of Elburn, served on the county board for 11 years before losing his seat in the Feb. 5 election to Drew Frasz of La Fox.

Pool DJ Nights are back

DJ Nights at Pottawatomie Pool in St. Charles return for the season Tuesday. The family program takes place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday in July, with various themes. There also will be contests and prizes for children. The pool is at 8 North Ave. Call (630) 584-3314.

Theatre in the Park

Tickets are on sale for this year's Theatre in the Park event presented by the St. Charles Park District and Downtown St. Charles Partnership. "Into the Woods Junior," produced by Rising Star Theatreworks, is this year's production. Performances are set for 7 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at the Pottawatomie Park Riverside Amphitheatre. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. Admission is free for ages 2 and younger. Cruise nights in Batavia

The Batavia Jaycees will hold its "Cars Under the Stars" events from 6 to 9 p.m. Fridays, July 25, Aug. 8 and 22, and Sept. 5 on the Riverwalk on Houston Street. Each night will have prizes and music, and all vehicles are welcome. For more information, visit bataviajaycees.org.

Donate to Rover Rescue

Rover Rescue in Aurora is soliciting donations for its annual garage sale fundraiser to provide care for dogs rescued from high-kill shelters. Needed items include kitchenware, baby furniture, tools, small appliances, toys and books. Large appliances and pieces of furniture will not be accepted.
