Langhorst rolls to Mustang title
How dominant was Fremd's Jenna Langhorst in the Rolling Meadows Mustang girls tennis invitational on Saturday?
Langhorst lost only 3 games all day and won the singles title 6-1, 6-0 over Joyce Hanlon of Benet. Langhorst won her semifinal match 6-2, 6-0 as Fremd finished second (19 points) to Glenbard West (22).
Fremd's doubles team of Katie Dewar and Elizabeth Stephenson finished third with a 6-2, 6-1 victory. They lost a tough three-set semifinal 5-7, 6-0, 6-3.
Mary Clare Loughery and Jenny Velasquez led Rolling Meadows to fourth place by taking second in doubles with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Glenbard West's Amanda Schwartz and Ashlyn Selzer. Loughery and Velasquez advanced with a 7-5, 6-2 semifinal victory.
St. Viator's Caitlin Alden finished fifth at singles.

At Jacobs: All it took was 4 first-half goal from Hoffman Estates to dispatch of Belvidere North 4-0 Saturday at the Jacobs invitational. Omar Sanchez had 2 assists for the Hawks.
Marco Zambanino had a goal and an assist. Brad Powszok gave Hoffman the lead to open the game. Kyle Patterson and Reono Oishi each put shots past the Blue Thunder goalie.
Host Jacobs took a 2-0 lead over the Hawks into the locker room. But the feisty Hawks came back in the second half to capture a 2-2 draw. Sishun Zerihun scored first for Hoffman off Brian Neu's assist. Then, Neu scored the second.
Fremd 3, Maine South 0: Fremd was too much for host Maine South, as the Vikings were able to come away with a non-conference victory. Bobby Hurwitz kicked off the scoring for the Vikings thanks to a Jan Myers assist. Matt Leonard and Cory Degrave also scored. Rich Podjesek (4 saves) was able to get the shutout for the Vikings.
