Unfair attack on Obama by McCain

They were all wrong. The Pentagon should not have, two days before a stop planned weeks in advance, pressured the Obama campaign into canceling the senator's visit to wounded troops in Germany. The Obama campaign should have gone ahead with the visit. They always intended to leave most of the staff and all the journalists waiting back at the plane. But, since the visit was part of their campaign's tour of Europe, they caved at the possible backlash from it seeming too politically advantageous.

But the most egregiously wrong was the McCain campaign that incorporated the canceled visit into a negative ad. McCain is supposed to be "above negative campaigning," isn't he? I'd like to hear a substantive proposal from him about what "victory" would look like in Iraq, not a dig about his opponent not visiting wounded troops.

I'd also like to remind the voters that McCain did not show the judgment, wisdom or courage to vote against sending troops to Iraq, and he and the Bush administration have virtually ignored the troops in Afghanistan until recently, and only after Obama pointed out the strategic importance of Afghanistan. So, those troops that Barack Obama didn't visit in the hospital are McCain's responsibility. Think about that when voting in November.

The troops hospitalized far from home suffered the most from this latest political dust-up. They were deprived from being photographed with the 44th president of the United States.
