Friends of the Huntley Area Public Library
The Friends of the Huntley Area Public Library are pleased to announce the winner of their 2008 scholarship award. Each year in the month of May, the Friends select an outstanding library employee for the honor. To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must be employed by the Huntley Area Public Library, have a consistent record of above average job performance, be a senior in high school or enrolled in college, and maintain a grade-point average of at least a "B" or 4.0 on a 5.0 scale.
This year the winner is Mary K. Grzenia, a Lake in the Hills resident. Grzenia is a student at Sacred Heart Classical Center and will be attending McHenry County College for an Associate's degree in Art. She will receive an award of $500. Friends of the Library Liaison Pamela Kampwerth said, "Mary is a hard worker and is very deserving of the scholarship. We wish her the best in her college years and beyond. She has found out first hand that everyone needs a friend."
Grzenia has been with the Huntley Area Public Library since June of 2007 and works as a page, helping replace items in the library's 100,000 item collection.
The Friends of the Huntley Library is a nonprofit group which actively promotes community awareness of materials, services and programs that the library has to offer.
