Blaze damages abandoned Crystal Lake house

Crystal Lake firefighters responded to a structure fire at an abandoned house at 300 Virginia Street (Route 14) about 6:30 p.m. Thursday. No injuries were reported.

According to Crystal Lake Fire Lt. William Whyte, the fire was limited to the second floor of the two-story wood frame structure.

The fire was under control about 7:15 p.m.

Whyte said the fire is still under investigation. There was no estimate of the damage, and the cause is unknown.
