Huntley man arrested after touching girl, self at campground, police say
A Huntley man is facing up to seven years in prison after McHenry County sheriff's police arrested him Thursday on allegations he touched a young girl and then exposed and fondled himself in front of several children at a Woodstock-area campground.
David A. Hartmann, 47, is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse as a result of the incident at the White Oak Campground on the 14000 block of Kishwaukee Valley Road.
Deputies were called to the campground about 6 p.m. Thursday in response to a report that an intoxicated man was at the facility bothering children.
"Thankfully, the witnesses and adults there acted quickly, called police and they were able to take (Hartmann) into custody at the scene," sheriff's Lt. Andrew Zinke said.
When arrested, Hartmann also was wanted on four outstanding warrants, including one for violating his probation on a 2003 felony deceptive practices conviction, authorities said.
After his arrest, Hartmann was taken to the McHenry County jail, where he remained Friday unable to post $52,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court June 26 on the Class 2 felony charge.
