Father in grave condition after cops say son pushed him down stairs

A McHenry County man suffered a life-threatening head injury when pushed down a flight of 20 stairs inside his home during an altercation with his son Sunday night, authorities say.

Frank Glusic of Prairie Grove was undergoing treatment Monday for a fractured skull and brain injuries at Centegra Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry where he was taken.

An update on his condition was not immediately available, but doctors told authorities investigating the incident that Glusic, whose age was not being released, had a 25 percent chance of survival, said Nichole Owens, criminal division chief for the McHenry County state's attorney.

Glusic's son, Christopher Glusic, 20, was in custody at the McHenry County jail Monday facing charges of aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor. Prosecutors intend to drop the aggravated domestic battery charge this morning but could refile it depending on how the investigation goes.

The younger Glusic could face more severe charges, depending on the condition of his father.

"The case is still under investigation and we're going to be monitoring (Frank Glusic's) condition and considering whether upgraded (charges) should be filed," Owens said.

Prairie Grove police were called to the Glusic home, 2511 Wright Road, at 10:48 p.m. Sunday in response to a domestic situation.

"At this point it appears the defendant was trying to leave the home and the victim was trying to stop him and an altercation ensued," Owens said.

After a brief scuffle with officers, Prairie Grove police said, Christopher Glusic was taken into custody at the home and transferred to the county jail. Along with Frank Glusic, an officer involved the arrest was taken to the hospital for treatment of bruised ribs suffered while making the arrest, police said.
