Naperville Park District wants to find new member quickly
Naperville Park District leaders said they hope to quickly replace Commissioner Charlie Brown, who resigned last week, but the process is not yet set in stone.
"We have a lot of things going on and we need to just get that in play," new board President Suzanne Hart said Wednesday. "It can't be something that just sits on our plate."
She said the board may choose to appoint a new member without going through an application process, but she plans to consult with other commissioners first.
There could be a special meeting next week for further discussion.
Brown, who was elected in 2005, announced his resignation June 12 citing a desire to spend more time traveling and with his family.
When he joined the board, commissioners served six-year terms so his replacement would serve until 2011. Terms have since been reduced to four years.
Hart said she wishes Brown would have stayed but understands his decision.
"If you look at our board we have every one of the generations and he is definitely … that one input of experience and not just in the park district but in life and that will be missed," she said.
She said she'd like the new commissioner to be someone who wants to be involved and isn't there for just one issue.
