The argument for Obama's candidacy
Recently I found a note in a book I was reading that said "Tell the truth without blame."
It brought to mind feelings I have about getting involved in the current presidential campaign.
The truth is, while I strongly support the candidacy of Barack Obama, I am not comfortable going door to door or making phone calls to demonstrate my support.
Instead I've decided that one thing I can do is to write a letter to the Daily Herald and publicly share the reasons why I believe Obama should be our next president.
I do this knowing it's one person's opinion and without casting criticism or blame on the other candidate.
I believe Obama understands that we live in an interconnected, interdependent world and that this understanding is vital to promoting both peace and environmental well-being.
I believe he also sees the big picture, which shows that many political issues are connected to one another and will require systemic change in order to benefit the whole.
I believe he not only has inspired many young voters, but that he is also inspired by our youth and sees them as important in and to the future. I believe he will continue to use their vision and energy when he is president
I believe he understands the need for everyone to be involved in serving humanity.
I believe he will appoint knowledgeable, talented people to fill all the important positions in the executive branch of the government, according to each appointee's special area of expertise.
I believe that in the spirit of mutual respect and with a willingness to listen, he will do much to promote trust in the good name of the United States throughout the world.
Barack Obama's candidacy has rekindled my personal feeling of patriotism and optimism for the future of our country. I support him proudly.
