Residents along Chain O' Lakes, Fox brace for floodwaters

Bob Paganucci couldn't contain his frustration Tuesday as he stacked sandbags along his garage to try to hold back rising water from his King's Island subdivision home in Fox Lake.

"I'm selling this place the second the housing market turns around," the 64-year-old retired electrician said as sweat rolled off his forehead. "I left a beautiful house in Bensenville two years ago to come here and pile up sandbags. I'm sick of it."

For Paganucci and many other water weary residents near the Fox River and Chain O' Lakes, it's the third flood in less than a year.

"When I first bought this place, they told me it flooded only once in four years," he said. "We've had three in nine months. Either they lied to me or something weird is going on."
