Lakemoor trustee, wife charged in domestic disturbance

Lakemoor Trustee Nicholas R. Weber and his wife were arrested in their home after a bloody domestic scuffle early Thursday, authorities said.

Nicholas Weber, 41 of 416 N. Willow Road, has been a village board member since 2003. He was elected in 2005, with commercial development and construction of a new village hall among his top issues.

McHenry County Undersheriff Gene Lowery said today Nicholas and Laura Weber, 38, each were charged with one count of domestic battery.

Laura Weber has been free on a signature bond since May 15 after she was charged with taking at least $22,000 from Camp Duncan YMCA near Waukegan when she worked there as business manager in 2006.

Nicholas Weber summoned Lakemoor police to the couple's house about 2 a.m. Thursday, Lowery said. The McHenry County sheriff's office was asked to assume the case because of Nicholas Weber's position as a village trustee, and the potential conflict for village authorities, he said.

Lowery said the Webers were bloody when police arrived. An argument and alcohol consumption fueled the fight, police reports state.

Police found blood splatters on carpeting, tile and walls on the home's second floor. Lowery said the fight occurred in the master bedroom and main bathroom.

During the fight, the Webers' 15-year-old daughter and two teenage friends were in the basement for a sleep-over.
