Obama should focus on small businesses
President-elect Obama and others have correctly talked about creating jobs by rebuilding our country from road and bridge building and repair to water systems and other infrastructures that are desperately needed. I been talking to friends for over a year about doing these very same type projects and I'm glad others are now talking about it. My opinion published in the Daily Herald on April 20, 2008 alludes to this. We need to take care of America first. However, not everyone can do construction work or have the knowledge or skills to do that type of work. I believe that President-elect Obama and his administration have to remember that this country was built on small business. That's why I believe a program where the SBA and Department of Commerce working with small business to grow those businesses and working with people with the knowledge, skills, ambition and creditworthiness to start businesses, especially in manufacturing, needs to be implemented, also. There are many people out of work who may want to start a business. A SBA program would help them and be good for America.
