Crash closes road
Authorities shut down southbound Randall Road at Kaneville Road on Tuesday morning after an auto accident punctured a hole in a semi's fuel saddle tank. The accident between the truck and a gold Honda happened right outside of Delnor Community Hospital. The closure lasted about a half hour after the accident, which occurred at 9:35 a.m. No serious injuries were reported, authorities said.
Look for reptiles
The Kane County Forest Preserve will host a "Reptile Rendezvous" nature walk from 10 to 11 a.m. June 22 at the Hampshire Forest Preserve. Naturalists will lead a walk looking for reptiles and give background on the animals and their habitat. The program is free, but residents should register by calling (847) 741-8350. The forest preserve is located at 44W780 Allen Road in Hampshire.
Wildlife camp for kids
The Fox Valley Wildlife Center is holding Camp Tracks, an opportunity for kids to learn about wildlife. There are still spots open for the third-to-fifth-grade course being held this week, from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Camp Tracks takes place at the Wildlife Center, located in the Elburn Woods Forest Preserve on Route 38, one mile west of Route 47 in Maple Park. A course for sixth- to eighth-graders will be held Aug. 11-15. Each weeklong course is broken up into five lessons, one per day. Each lesson is $10, or $45 for the whole week. Crafters needed
The Batavia Mothers Club is looking for crafters to display and sell work at its 23rd annual Autumn Arts and Crafts Show. The show attracts thousands of patrons each year to see the paintings, drawings, pottery, glass, accessories, dolls and other items. Applications for the 150 booths are available at www.bataviamothersclub.org and will be taken until Aug. 18. The show will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Mooseheart field house. St. Charles blood drive
