Speed limit to be raised

Hainesville has increased the speed limit on all residential streets within the village from 20 to 25 mph. Mayor Ted Mueller said the village acted after a resident complaint. The village found its current 20 mph speed limit did not comply with state law, which states the speed limit in a residential area should be 30 mph. A village can increase or decrease the speed limit in their village by 5 mph following a traffic study. Police Chief Ronald Roth conducted a study about a month ago. The village board approved the change at Tuesday's meeting.
