Children's Health and Safety Fair

More than 40 organizations are scheduled to participate in Saturday's Children's Health and Safety Fair sponsored by state Rep. Ruth Munson (R-Elgin).

In its third year, the fair is designed to provide practical information and free health screenings to help protect children.

The Children's Health and Safety Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Lakewood Elementary School, 1651 Ravine Lane, Carpentersville.

Participants in the event include but are not limited to: Carpentersville police and fire departments; Greater Elgin Family Care Center; Kane County Health Department; Dundee Township Park District; Sylvan Learning Center and more.

Free screenings for scoliosis and blood pressure will be offered. In addition, details will be available on bicycle safety, backpack safety, healthy snack programs, poison control, West Nile Virus, and other health and safety related topics.

Admission is free for the event that includes refreshments and entertainment. For details, call Rep. Munson at (847) 622-1048.

Screenings set for young children

Are you concerned about how your child is progressing? Do you feel that something "isn't quite right? Is he not lifting his head? Is she slow to sit up or difficult to understand?

The Adult and Child Rehab Center in Woodstock offers Developmental Screenings for infants and children through 35 months at the Rehab Center at 708 Washington St.

The screenings, administered by licensed professionals, are scheduled for May 13.
