Briefs: St. Charles road closures
Sections of several roads in downtown St. Charles will be closed to traffic today and Sunday for the 10th annual St. Charles Fine Art Show. South First Avenue will be closed between East Main Street and Illinois Avenue. Walnut Avenue will be closed between South First and South Second avenues. The closures take effect at 7 a.m. today with reopening set for 7 p.m. Sunday.
$1 house for sale
The Aurora Preservation Division is assisting with the sale of the circa-1875 Italianate-style house at 128 W. New York St. for $1. Buyers must move it to another site. The 16-room house is approximately 2,000 square feet, and the dimensions of the house, including an addition, are 34.5-by-44.5 feet. Some financial assistance may be available depending on the moving plan. If the new lot is located in Aurora, it must meet the surrounding lot area requirements. Call (630) 844-3648.
Campton census ongoing
Campton Hills officials are reminding residents that the village's first special census is under way. Census takers are going door-to-door in several parts of the village and are carrying credentials for public inspection, officials said. Call (630) 584-5700.
Foster hires Klinkhamer
Former St. Charles Mayor Sue Klinkhamer has been hired as district director for U.S. Rep. Bill Foster. Having served two terms as mayor, Klinkhamer most recently worked as a lobbyist in Washington, D.C., for the city of Chicago. In her new role, Klinkhamer will help Foster provide constituent service in the 14th District, according to a news release.

West Chicago truck event
The West Chicago Police Department and West Chicago Park District will host a Touch-a-Truck event May 31 at Reed-Keppler Park from 9 to 11 a.m. in the parking lot of the Turtle Splash Water Park. Children will have an opportunity to look at, sit in or climb on trucks and equipment from the city's public works and police departments, as well as the local fire protection district and multiple local businesses.
