Economy needs different approach
There is a CNBC political and financial commentator who keeps calling this a "Goldilocks Economy."
I don't understand what's good in this analogy.
Goldilocks and Bush arrogantly go where they don't belong, the woods (White House and Iraq).
Totally confused and lost, they stumble into a well-run house (the US economy, remember the surplus, wages high).
Goldilocks and Bush proceed to vandalize the house. They ruin the beds (the value of the dollar, America's reputation). They break the chairs (jobs lost, deficit grows by 85 percent, wages stagnant, energy cost up $2,000 per person since 2000).
In the last act of vandalism, Goldilocks (Bush) is fouling the food.
As a result of his inept handling of the budget, the dollar falls in value, causing oil to reach record levels which has the result of all consumer goods and food skyrocketing higher while wages decrease.
People can no longer afford homes they bought when the future looked bright and default on their payments.
The banking system with the rules removed (deregulation) left with what could have been good loans but now worthless paper.
Now as with Goldilocks, Bush's term is over and he will run away leaving a mess for someone else.
Mark Kirk voted over 90 percent with the Goldilocks fairy tale. Kirk and Bush still believe we can spend ourselves into prosperity. Does that make sense?
Tax cuts to those who do not need them with uncontrolled spending only results in higher debt lower dollar and increased inflation.
Kirk was and is for the war in Iraq. A war did everything Bin Laden wanted America to do: alienate our allies, strengthen our enemies and bankrupt the nation.
Eight years of bad management is far too long. Kirk should leave with Bush.
We need a different approach to our problems. We need people who understand economics and balance the budget once again. We need people in power that can unite not polarize the nation. We need change.
In the 10th District, we can start with electing Dan Seals to replace Mark Kirk.
