Route 59 corridor gets extra patrols
The Streamwood police department will join other departments in patrolling the Route 59 corridor from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday in a traffic safety campaign. Officers will target traffic violations such as speeding, running red lights, seat belt violations and improper lane usage. The intersection at routes 59 and 19 has been the number one source of accidents within the Streamwood jurisdiction for the last six years, with an average of 57 accidents per year. A motorist and pedestrian were killed on Route 59 in 2007.
Palatine Jaycees put on sand sale
The Palatine Jaycees are holding its annual sand fundraiser through today. The sand is suitable for sandboxes, gardening and construction projects. Costs range from $9 for a wheelbarrow full to $120 for four tons.

BHS holds spring band concert
The Barrington High School bands will present the Spring Finale concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the school's Richard C. Johnson Auditorium, 616 W. Main Street. The concert will feature the Barrington High School Concert and Symphonic Bands, under the direction of Mr. Randy Karon Admission is free.
