Car crashes into Cary music store

A 57 -year-old Cary woman crashed her car into a music store Thursday morning, damaging the building, but no one was hurt, police said.

At 7:15 a.m., Melody Stasiak was heading south on Cary-Algonquin Road and turning right at Cary Oaks Plaza when her feet somehow got tangled on the pedals, causing her to crash her 2003 Cadillac sedan into Hot Rod Music store, police said.

Although Stasiak wasn't going fast, the crash resulted in thousands of dollars in damage to the building, said Chris Winkelmann, an accident reconstructionist with Cary Police Department.

Music equipment also was damaged, but police didn't have any information on what was broken or how much it would cost to replace or repair the equipment.

Hot Rod Music is insured, Winkelmann said. Stasiak will not be ticketed for the accident, Winkelmann added.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
