Briefs: Work slated on Ogden
The Illinois Department of Transportation and K-Five Construction Corp. will be making repairs this week on Ogden Avenue between Route 59 and Raymond Drive in Naperville. Work is scheduled between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. today and Friday. The project will require lane reductions which will create delays, transportation officials said. Andover open again
Fox Valley Park District will hold a grand reopening ceremony at 5:30 p.m. today for Andover Park in Aurora. Renovation of the park features a new playground with a modular play structure, swings and free-standing toys for young children. There is also a field area for informal soccer play among the 10 acres of open space. A circular paved area is imprinted with the park district's fox logo. The area will be accessible by a newly paved sidewalk that connects from the neighborhood. The public is invited to attend the reopening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on the city's southeast side between Route 59 and Eola Road. For details, call (630) 966-4527.
Aurora water parks to open
Splash Country Water Park and Phillips Park Family Aquatic Center will open for the summer season at 10 a.m. Saturday. Both water parks will be open daily through mid-August. Hours are from noon to 7 p.m. Sundays to Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Admission rates for Fox Valley Park District residents are $7 on weekdays and $8 on weekends for ages 13 and older; $6 on weekdays and $7 on weekends for children ages 2 to 12. Nonresident admission is $1 more for each. Twilight rates, senior discounts and combination admissions also are available. Splash Country is at 195 S. Barnes Road on Aurora's west side. Phillips Park is at 828 Montgomery Road in the southeast portion of Aurora.
In touch for Father's Day
Fathers who have sons and daughters serving in Iraq can have a free, one-hour video conference with their loved ones on Father's Day, June 15, in Benedictine University's Kindlon Hall, 5700 College Road, Lisle. Benedictine is collaborating with Freedom Calls Foundation to provide the service. The video conferences are available with servicemen stationed at any of five camps in Iraq: Camp Taji, Al Asad Air Base, Camp Fallujah, Camp Victory (Baghdad) and Camp Taqaddum.
