Police memorial slated

The Elgin Police Department will host its annual Police Officer Memorial Service at 2:30 p.m. today by the flag poles in front of the department, 151 Douglas Ave. The service will include a wreath presentation and 21-gun salute. The event honors police officers who were killed in the line of duty locally and across the country.

Cary water flushing begins

Cary's water flushing program kicks off between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. today south of Route 14. This means the water coming out of your faucet may look rusty. If this occurs, the best way to keep it from staining your clothes and dishes is to let the water run until it looks clear. Larkin choral concert

Larkin High School will present their spring choral concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the school auditorium, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin. The mixed chorus, vocal ensemble, and concert choir will perform. In addition, graduating seniors will be recognized during the show. Tickets are available at the door. Prices are $ 2 per adult, $ 1 per student/senior or $ 6 per family.

BHS choir show Tuesday

The Barrington High School choirs will perform their spring concert, "Broadway and Barbershop," at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the school's Richard C. Johnson Auditorium, 616 W. Main St. The show will feature songs and medleys from opera and musical theater, including selections from "Les Miserables." Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for children and students and free for senior citizens. Steel Beam production

Tickets are available for "The Last Five Years," a contemporary musical, at the Steel Beam Theatre, 111 W. Main St., St. Charles. Weekend performances continue through Sunday. The production, written and composed by Jason Robert Brown, chronicles five years in the life of a writer and actress. Tickets are $25 for adults and $23 for seniors citizens and students. Richard Marx in concert

Pop singer Richard Marx is scheduled to perform an acoustic concert featuring Matt Scannell of Vertical Horizon May 24 at the Arcada Theatre, 105 E. Main St., St. Charles. Marx became an international star in the late 1980s with the No. 1 hit "Right Here Waiting for You" and other chart-topping pop songs.
