Cops say teen stole SUV, hit squad car, fled

A getaway attempt turned into a collision course in Mount Prospect, authorities said.

Jose Segovia, 17, of 524 N. 6th Ave., Des Plaines, is facing charges of burglary and aggravated fleeing from police.

The teenager allegedly stole a 2000 Dodge Durango from a home on the 500 block of East Council Trail on Thursday. Later that afternoon, the vehicle was pulled over by police on the 1600 block of East Euclid Street, but the driver sped off only to strike another squad car, authorities said.

Undeterred, the SUV charged on before it crashed in the parking lot of a gas station at Euclid Street and Wolf Road.

Segovia's bond was set at $35,000 Saturday in the Rolling Meadows courthouse. His next court date is May 28.
