The answer is blowing in the wind
Why should we worry about global warming, a possible problem of the future? We have problems of the present: cancer asthma, and air pollution. More than 40,000 Americans die per year from air pollution. Cancer and asthma have skyrocketed within the last 100 years. Every year there is more C02 in the air and less O2. The ozone O3 layer is disappearing. We pollute our air and water. One of the biggest sources of pollution is burning fuel. Burning coal and oil pollutes our air with a variety of many poisons. If we poison our environment, our environment poisons us. Solution: Stop building coal and nuclear power plants. Three-quarters of the cost of generating electricity is the cost of the power plant. Before we spend $2 billion for another coal power plant or more for a nuclear power plant we need to use windmills, hydroelectric dams, geothermal, and solar cells. A windmill can pay for itself in five years. Wind power costs slightly more than coal power, not counting the pollution. With power plant costs increasing and windmill technology getting better, windmills will soon be cheaper. We will replace our gas buses, cars, and trains with solar/and electric ones. We can make better more efficient appliances and sell them to the rest of the world.
