Briefs: GE employees volunteer
More than 600 Chicago-area employees of General Electric participated in the company's sixth annual Community Day on Friday, working at, among others, projects at Crabtree Nature Center in Barrington and several local schools. At Crabtree, they cleaned up litter and helped with vegetation and habitat management on the more than thousand acres of prairie land. And they teamed up with Junior Achievement to teach elementary school children at Hunting Ridge and Pleasant Hill schools in Palatine, Heritage School in Streamwood and Riley School in Arlington Heights. GE also gave $75,000 to Junior Achievement of Chicago and $50,000 to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
