Will miss courteous waste pickup drivers

We are really going to miss the excellent service that Waste Management provided us the last several years. In all the discussion about hiring a new company, we heard no mention of the drivers. They are the ones who have the personal contact with the residents.

We have found the WM drivers to be very courteous as well as efficient. More than once a WM driver has come halfway up our driveway to help us as we struggled to get a heavy container to the curb. We hope that the new drivers will be as sensitive to the needs of seniors. That may not be the case because the Veolia management seems rather high strung about the placement of the containers at the curb - as if Wheaton residents don't know how to do it. Ever since the start of Wheaton's recycling program, we have faithfully put the recyclables on the right side of our driveway and the garbage, leaves and yard waste containers on the left. We don't need the new kids on the block to tell us how to do it while charging us much more.
