Mt. Prospect shooting might be gang-related, police say

A 25-year-old Mount Prospect man was shot Friday night on the 1400 block of South Brownstone Court, police said Monday.

About 10:45 p.m., officers responded to a 911 call of "shots fired -- man down" at Brownstone Court Apartments. Officers discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his lower side and back.

The victim underwent emergency surgery at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge and remains hospitalized, police said.

The shooting is believed to be gang-related, police said.

The victim was reportedly involved in a struggle with as many as six people prior to one of them shooting him.

The gunman and the others who had been fighting with the victim entered an older model Ford Crown Victoria or Mercury Grand Marquis with large chrome wheels and fled west on Algonquin Road, police said.
