Stop and smell the Roses at fest
Roselle's Rose Festival promises four days of rides, food and entertainment to the downtown area beginning today. Daily Herald Staff Writer Anne Halston asked festival chairman Robert Jilke about this year's festivities.
Q. Who organizes the festival?
A. Roselle Lions Club
Q. When is it?
A. Today through Sunday:
• 6 to 11 p.m. today
• 6 p.m. to midnight Friday
• Noon to midnight Saturday
• Noon to 10 p.m. Sunday
Q. Where is it?
A. Roselle Train Station, approximately a half mile east of Roselle Road on Irving Park Road.
Q. Is there a cost to enter?
A. No entry fee. Rides, food, beer and bingo are available for purchase.
Q. Where is there parking?
A. On site
Q. What kind of foods will be there?
A. Pizza, hot dogs, Greek specialties, Chinese specialties, Dippin' Dots, bakery dessert specialties
Q. What's new this year?
A. New act today: Matt Ragano Elvis impersonator.
New band Friday: The Volcanoes, an excellent new rock 'n' roll band.
Q. What's everyone's favorite?
A. Saturday -- Howard and the White Boys performing rhythm and blues
Q. Is there a carnival?
A. Yes
Q. How many rides and games will be there?
A. Approximately 17 rides and 10 games

A. Tickets are $1; rides take two or more tickets.
Special days are:
• Today: 10 rides for $15
• Saturday and Sunday: Noon to 5 p.m. Wristbands for unlimited rides cost $20.
