Man gets two years in attack on hospital workers
A Wauconda man was sentenced to two years in prison Tuesday after he admitted he attacked a pair of hospital workers.
Roger Synon, 38, pleaded guilty to aggravated battery during a hearing before Circuit Judge George Bridges.
Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Marykay Foy said Synon, of 410 S. Barrington Road, went to Good Shepherd Hospital in Lake Barrington on Feb. 19.
Synon went to the emergency room, where doctors diagnosed him with a self-inflicted cut to his wrist.
Because of the nature of the injury, Foy said, Synon was told he was going to be admitted for a psychiatric evaluation.
Synon protested the move, and two hospital orderlies were called to restrain him.
Synon fought back, at one point swinging an IV solution stand at the workers, and kicked and punched at them.
Lake County sheriff's deputies were called and assisted in subduing Synon.
Foy said Synon could have faced up to five years in prison if convicted after a trial.
