Franzen lifts Wings in OT

Johan Franzen scored 1:48 into overtime, sending the host Detroit Red Wings past the Nashville Predators 2-1 to take a 3-2 lead in their first-round series.

Valtteri Filppula, who scored Detroit's first goal, poked the puck away, and Franzen ended up with it and beat Dan Ellis with a backhander.

The NHL's best team this season was less than a minute from winning in regulation, but Nashville's Radek Bonk slipped through the defense to get off a one-timer that got past Chris Osgood.

Rangers 5, Devils 3: New York trailed for 18 seconds in the first period before scoring four straight times and holding on for a victory over New Jersey that ended the best-of-seven series in five games.

Never had a team won three road games against New Jersey in a playoff series, but the Rangers did it in the first season at the Devils' new arena, Prudential Center, affectionately known as "The Rock."
