Exelon ramps up Quad Cities reactor
Exelon Corp. ramped up the Quad Cities 1 reactor in Illinois to 83 percent of capacity, up from 40 percent yesterday, according to a report from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
The reactor's output was reduced yesterday so workers could make repairs on condenser tube and feed-pump seal leaks, Thomas Stevens, a spokesman for Exelon, said previously.
There are two reactors at the Quad Cities plant in northwestern Illinois, near Davenport, Iowa. Unit 2 is operating at 96 percent of capacity, according to the commission.
