Concert promoter up for award
Palatine resident Don Kronberg, president of Itasca-based NiteLite Promotions, was nominated by the Academy of Country Music for a 2008 Academy of Country Music Award in the category of Promoter of the Year. Kronberg, one of five nominees in the category, has been promoting concerts throughout the Midwest since the early 1990s. The 43rd Academy of Country Music Awards will be presented on May 18.
• College student Jenna Nejman of Schaumburg held a live model horse show March 29, at the Itasca Holiday Inn, to benefit the American Cancer Society and Cure Search. Nejman's efforts raised $3,000 for the two cancer associations. Her plans are to hold the event again March 14, 2009.
• Elena Caruthers, 18, has become the first student to choreograph a dance for the Des Plaines Park District's School of Dance annual June recital. Caruthers, who has been dancing since age 5, chose "The Way I Am" by independent artist Ingrid Michaelson for her music. The recital, "Satellite 2008," will be performed on June 7 and 8 at the Maine West High School Auditorium.
• Jim Lemberg from Runge Paper in Elk Grove Village was awarded a Certificate of Achievement for completing a seminar for sales professionals conducted in Maumee, Ohio, by Spartan Chemical Company Inc. Runge Paper is an authorized distributor of Spartan's products.
• The Illinois Association of Realtors named Patrick Dalessandro of Prospect Heights 2008 Illinois Realtor of the Year. Dalessandro was recognized for his leadership and service in civic, community and charitable causes, as well as activity in the Realtor Association. He is the broker-owner of Coachlight Realty GMAC, which he founded in 1974, in Niles.
