Carmel tops Antioch
Josh Garwood had 8 kills and Zach Engels, Jake Krupski and Erik Liederbach each had 6 to help host Carmel earn a 25-13, 25-10 victory over Antioch in nonconference boys volleyball play on Monday.
Mike Geske provided 20 setting assists for the winners, and Garwood came up with 6 solo blocks and 5 assisted blocks.
Boys basketball
Tickets are available for the 2008 Chicago High School Classic, an all-star game featuring some of Chicagoland's best boys basketball players.
This year, the Champps Slam Dunk Contest and 3-point shootout and all-star game will be taking place at Niles North High School on Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for high school students with ID and high school coaches, $5 for children under 14 and senior citizens and free for kids under 5 years old. Group rates are also available. Tickets can be bought online or at the door.
There are six players from the Daily Herald's circulation area participating in the event. They are Bartlett's Kamil Janton (who has committed to Eastern Michigan), Driscoll's Jake Lindfors (Albany), Jacobs' John Moran (Northern Iowa), Glenbard West's John Shurna (Northwestern), Stevenson's Kevin Stineman (SIU-Edwardsville) and Fenton's Gozie Umeadi (undecided).
Shurna is one of six participants in the dunk contest and Moran is one of six in the 3-point shootout.
