Streamwood mom ruled insane, not guilty
A Streamwood mother accused of stabbing her young son has been found not guilty by reason of insanity by a Cook County judge. Alicja Makowska, 43, was charged with attempted murder after attacking her 6-year-old boy multiple times May 2007 at their home on the 2000 block of Quake Hollow Lane. "She has a long history of mental illness," attorney Steven Kozicki said. Makowska's next court date is next month at the Rolling Meadows courthouse. State experts are expected to evaluate Makowska's mental health and recommend a course of action. The boy has recovered from the injuries, Kozicki said.
