• Kyle Robert Jesse of Hoffman Estates, a freshman pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, is the recipient of a KU Scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year. He is a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School.

• Lauren E. Jesse of Schaumburg, a student pursuing a doctor of medicine degree at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, is the recipient of the George E. And Blanche Sterling Trust scholarship for the 2007-08 academic year. She is a graduate of Shawnee Mission East High School.

• Michael Nolan of Schaumburg received academic honors from Ferris State University, Big Rapids, Mich., for having at least a 3.5 grade-point average at the end of the December 2007 semester.

• Colin Ridlon and Sindre Andre Ronningen, both of Hoffman Estates, and Christopher Donald Darkes and Alexander Michael Krustsch, both of Schaumburg, were named to the Department of Communication Honor Roll for the fall 2007 semester at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. To qualify, students must have a 3.5 or greater grade-point average.

• Sherry A. Papak of Hoffman Estates was named to the fall 2007 dean's list at Northern Michigan University, Marquette, for having a grade point average between 3.25 and 3.99.

• Adam J. SanMiguel, a sophomore majoring in biology at Colby College, Waterville, Maine, was named to the fall 2007-08 dean's list for outstanding academic achievement. SanMiguel is the son of Jeannette Pye of Elgin, and Armando and Sherry SanMiguel, Schaumburg, He attended St. Edward Central Catholic High School in Elgin.

• Christine Kozul of Hoffman Estates, a student in the School of Management at Binghamton University, State University of New York, was named to the fall 2007 dean's list for achieving a minimum grade-point average of 3.75.

Douglas Marcis of Schaumburg, a student in the College of Arts and Sciences of Loyola University of Chicago, was named to the 2007-08 dean's list for scholastic performance.

• Becca Young, daughter of Geoff and Joan Young of Hoffman Estates, received her doctor of pharmacy degree March 7 at the Chicago College of Pharmacy of Midwestern University in Downers Grove. Young is a 2002 graduate of William Fremd High School.

• Kathrine Rosinski, daughter of John and Helen Rosinski of Hoffman Estates, was awarded her doctor of pharmacy degree March 7 at the Chicago College of Pharmacy of Midwestern University in Downers Grove. Rosinski is a 2001 graduate of Conant High School. After graduation, she plans to work as a pharmacist at Target pharmacy.

• Jennifer Grabowski, daughter of Charles and Annette Grabowski of Hoffman Estates, was named to both the spring and fall 2007 dean's lists at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis. She is now an honor student with a grade-point average of 3.7 on a 4.0 scale.

• Gina M. Corrado of Schaumburg, a 2004 graduate of Conant High School, was named to the fall 2007 honor roll at Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wis., for achieving a 3.6 grade-point average in her first year in dental school. Her undergraduate education was also at Marquette.

• Sandra Heyboer of Hoffman Estates, a junior nursing major at Valparaiso (Ind.) University, is a member of a group of students that developed a presentation to provide information on managing a fussy baby, and shaken baby syndrome. Valparaiso nursing students are presenting prenatal showers to mothers in northwest Indiana this spring. They are teaching them how they can raise sons and daughters through a series of educational "showers" during the spring semester.
