Cubs invite Driscoll to sing

The Driscoll Catholic High School state champion football players as well as head coach Mike Burzawa have been invited by the Chicago Cubs to sing during the seventh inning stretch at the April 16 game against the Cincinnati Reds. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. The Cubs supplied the Addison school with 212 tickets. Many Driscoll fans and students will ride to the game together to cheer on their classmates and coach.

Lombard group accredited

Lombard Town Centre has been accredited as a 2008 National Main Street Program for meeting the commercial district revitalization performance standards set by the National Trust Main Street Center. Lombard Town Centre is an organization made up of residents, businesses and building owners dedicated to downtown Lombard. It was one of 28 groups to be accredited by the Illinois Main Street Program. Evaluation criteria included standards such as developing a mission, fostering strong public-private partnerships, securing an operating budget, tracking economic progress and preserving historic buildings. Glenbard parent talk set

Glenbard High School District 87 will present a workshop for parents, "Living your life on purpose," at 7 p.m. today in the Glenbard West High School library, 670 Crescent Blvd., Glen Ellyn.

The workshop will address how fears hold people back, why people are the sum total of their choices, and why attitude is important. It will be hosted by Mike Smith of Family Friendly Schools, an organization designed to help schools include parents, students and teachers. The program is funded by Kaplan Test Prep and Admissions.
